Dress Code

BOYS


TOPS – Tops need to be school appropriate for all ages. Words and/or graphics need to uphold our Christian values. To promote unity in our school, no political words/graphics are allowed (on campus or at any school function). No spaghetti strap tank tops, bare midriffs, or underclothing showing.  


BOTTOMS – Pants must be modest. They may be any color and jeans may be worn. Shorts must reach a minimum of mid-thigh. No underclothing showing.


SHOES – We recommend closed-toe shoes for safety on the playground (no flip-flops or slippers). Closed-toe shoes must be worn on PE days. Middle school students may wear open-toe shoes at their own risk. Slippers are allowed on school pajama days (please bring regular shoes for recess to change into). 


HATS – Hats may be worn outdoors, but may not be worn inside the building. (COVID-19 exception: hats may be worn indoors if it supports a mask/face shield) To promote unity in our school, no political words/graphics are allowed (on campus or at any school function).

DRESSES –Dresses need to reach a minimum of mid-thigh. No spaghetti straps on dresses. For recess and PE, leggings or shorts are required under dresses.

MAKEUP – Elementary girls are not allowed to wear makeup but may wear lip gloss.  Middle school girls may wear light makeup.


A student who does not wear clothing that fits within these boundaries will be required to call their parents for a change of clothing. 


Please mark your student’s name in all coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc. Weather permitting, the students will go outside for recess. In winter we go outside for recess unless it is 20 degrees or below. Please ensure your student is dressed appropriately for the weather.


School appropriateness and safety are the basic guidelines of our dress code. Southside Christian School reserves the right to make changes in the policy as the parents, staff, and Board of Directors deem necessary.
