Traditions at Southside Christian School
In September is our annual fun run. All students head over to Comstock park proudly displaying our new Southside shirts and participate in completing laps. Funds raised from this fundraiser help assist with curriculum, supplies, and technology for the school.
Our 4th – 8th grade classes enjoy overnight, team-building retreats in September. This is a great time for students to bond with their classmates and teachers as the school year begins.
In October, Kindergarten through 8th grade students invite their grandparents or a special guest to an afternoon of entertainment and delicious cookies. We schedule this event around a Scholastic Book Fair so the grandparents and children can enjoy shopping for books together.
Chili BINGO Night
Enjoy this family fun night perfect for all ages in October. This is hosted by our middle school students as a fundraiser for their educational trip in the spring. Free face painting for children, yummy food, and BINGO with prizes!
In December, all students are welcome to participate in a Christmas program. Preschool and K-8 students have separate programs where they showcase what they have been doing in music, while celebrating the joy and hope of Christ's birth.
Come celebrate with Southside family and friends at our annual Gala. Enjoy an amazing dinner & dessert, no-host bar, entertainment, and of course, the auction. This is Southside's biggest fundraiser of the year. This is an adult event with childcare offered.
In May, all students, preschool through 8th grade, have a time to celebrate their families. Special programs honoring their family and delicious treats to enjoy. It is our time to say thank you.
Carnival & Museum
Enjoy an evening full of entertainment and fun! This evening in May features a museum of things to see and do while the middle school students host carnival games throughout the school as well. Prizes, food and fun!
Girls’ Tea & Boys Field Day
It is a tradition at Southside Christian School for the 7th & 8th grade girls to organize and serve a tea to the Kindergarten through 6th grade girls. Each year brings a different theme that inspires the table decorations. It is a wonderful afternoon of food, tea, and dancing.
The boys head off to a near by park for organized games for field day. After a fun time of sports and games, they enjoy a special treat.
